Taurine is mainly found in animal products, including:
- Meat: Various types of meat such as beef, pork and chicken contain significant amounts of taurine.
- Fish: especially fatty fish species, such as salmon and tuna, are a rich source of taurine.
- Dairy: Milk and various cheeses also provide taurine.
Plant foods typically contain very little or no taurine, which may mean vegetarians and vegans get less of this substance.
